T’Cherise's Journey: From Necessity to Passion

Growing up in a rural town, it was hard to find skincare and haircare products made for melanin-rich skin. Either they didn’t exist, or they were full of chemicals I couldn’t even pronounce. My skin has always been sensitive, reacting poorly to heavy perfumes and harsh additives in commercial products.

I was raised to take a natural approach to health and wellness, so I always looked for clean products—but they were either overpriced or misleading. Why should I pay extra for something that claimed to be “natural” but was filled with unnecessary fillers? That frustration pushed me to start making my own skincare products. I wanted something truly nourishing, free from harmful ingredients, and accessible to people like me.

Tanya's Journey: The Candle Awakening

I’ve always loved candles—the way they can transform a space with a single scent, how they make a home feel warm, inviting, and personal. After a long day, stepping into a room filled with my favorite fragrance was my way of unwinding.

But after having my son, I became extremely sensitive to strong perfumes, and I had to rethink the products I used. My son was born with eczema, so I became extra careful about everything we put on our skin. Naturally, I switched to unscented or "gentle" products—at least, that's what I thought.

For my birthday in 2024, T gifted me one of her handmade body oils. I LOVED it and I couldn't believe she made it herself. She explained what was in it, and I was shocked to learn how misleading product labels can be. So many brands claim to be “all-natural” or “organic” when they’re anything but. That moment made me realize how many of my favorite products—candles, lotions, even bath soaps—were packed with artificial fragrances and questionable chemicals.

I had trusted packaging instead of doing my own research. Even my go-to moisturizers were mostly water. Why was I paying so much for a bottle of water marketed as skincare?

Why We Built This Together

As we talked, we realized we weren’t the only ones feeling this way. So many people think they’re buying clean, high-quality products when they’re actually paying extra for fillers and toxins. That conversation sparked something in us: why not create products people can truly trust together?

Our shared frustrations turned into a mission. We combined our knowledge—T’s expertise in skincare and ingredients, and my passion for home fragrances—to create something better.

I had always wanted to start my own candle line because I could never find candles that were just right. The scent would be perfect, but the container wasn’t. Or the price was way out of my budget. Then, after actually reading the ingredients in some of my favorite candles, I was horrified. Many contained potentially harmful, even cancer-causing chemicals. Here I was, thinking I was making my home feel cozy and safe—when in reality, I was exposing myself and my son to toxins.

So we set out to change that. We wanted to create high-quality body care products made with nourishing natural oils that actually help with skincare concerns. We also wanted beautifully scented candles made with clean, high-quality ingredients—ones that wouldn’t just smell amazing but would also be safe and accessible to everyone.

The best part? I get to build this with my cousin, T. She’s kind, humble, trustworthy, and insanely knowledgeable about this industry. She’s guided me through this process, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner.

This business is more than just body care and candles. It’s about creating something real, something honest—something we believe in. And we can’t wait to share it with you.
